Who are We?
The Dublin Safer Families Service is a Gender, Sexual and Domestic Violence service that works with parents and children within a whole family approach.
What do we do?
The Dublin Safer Family Service aims to work specifically with families where violence has created difficulties and or is currently a concern.
Violence can include:
The use of physical or emotional force or the threat of physical force including sexual violence in close adult relationships. It can also involve emotional abuse, the destruction of property, isolation from friends, family and other potential sources of support; threats to others including children; stalking and control over access to money, personal items, food, transportation and the telephone (Children First - National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 2011).
Our model of service delivery has two aims;
- To increase family safety
- To prevent and stop violence towards in families.
The service utilises no violence contracts and safety planning to meet these aims.
Safety of children first and foremost
As a professionals organisation we work under legislation which strives to protect the rights, safety and welfare of children. We are particularly attentive to the impact on children (up to the age of 18) who experience domestic violence
